What is an Elastomeric Coating?

  • Elastomeric is a breathable coating that dries to an attractive satin sheen and is available in brilliant white and thousands of custom colours. It's many qualities include:

  • Bridges hairline cracks - up to 1/16" wide and will prevent new cracks.

  • Exceptionally adhesive to stucco, brick, concrete block, concrete and wood.

  • Dirt repellant - low sheen finish resists airborne dust and dirt accumulation. Rain will wash away most of the dirt and dust that would accumulate on other low sheen paints.

  • Flexible – excellent elongation of 300% so will expand and contract without cracking.

  • Water resistant & breathable – seals out wind-driven rain but allows moisture vapour to escape from interior to exterior surfaces.

  • Mildew resistant & non-toxic.

  • Covered by a FIVE YEAR WARRANTY backed by HI-TECH Painting and the manufacturer.

Important items to consider when choosing a painting contractor for applying an Elastomeric coating:
  1. PROPER APPLICATION - Elastomeric must be applied at the proper mill thickness or it will lose its Elastomeric properties. It should be applied with a 1-2 gal./min. airless sprayer (a smaller sprayer will not pump the product without thinning) at the rate of 100 to 125 sq. ft. per gallon and back rolled.

  2. The Elastomeric coating should NOT BE THINNED or it will lose its Elastomeric properties.

  3. Painting Contractor must have EXPERIENCE working with Elastomeric coatings.

  4. The painting contractor should be CERTIFIED by the paint  manufacturer for applying an Elastomeric coating.

  5. INSPECTION should be done by paint manufacturer to back up the warranty.

  6. The product should be covered by a FIVE YEAR WARRANTY backed by the contractor and the manufacturer.
